Duration

 Standard Course – Blended studies (Online + 4 weeks of Practical Training+ 35h Work placement)

  • Online: The theoretical part of the course offers unparalleled flexibility, allowing you to study at any time from the comfort of your home. Extensive support and expert guidance are provided at all times.
  • Practical Training: Master the art of pathology collection through hands-on practice with our advanced simulation equipment and real-life case studies.  Our expert instructors will guide you every step of the way.

-4 weeks of Face-to-Face Classroom Training (Every Tuesday and Wednesday)

  • Work Placement: Explore 35 hours of vocational placement at Australia’s top laboratories—a gateway to enter the industry. Many of our students secure employment during placement, leveraging this invaluable opportunity for career advancement

There is a maximum 12-month duration to complete the course.

Entry Requirements

General Entry Requirements:

  • Minimum age: 18 years of age or older
  • Completion of Year 10 schooling
  • Competent English level (written and oral)
  • Criminal history check
  • Immunisation record:  To be immunised, or in the process of being vaccinated, for the following diseases:
    • Hepatitis B, Varicella, MMR (measles, mumps and rubella), dTPa (diphtheria, tetanus, and acellular pertussis–Pertussis).

Required resources:

In order for the student to successfully complete the course, the following is required: 

  • Access to a reliable internet connection 
  • Access to a computer and/or Laptop- Basic computer skills
  • Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat.

Course Outline

HLT37215 – Cert III Pathology Collection

The Cert III in Pathology Collection includes 14 units and 35 hours of work Placement.

The course is based on blended learning and combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on training using first-class simulation equipment and realistic, in-depth scenarios to help students’ skills and knowledge grow to their fullest potential.

HLTPAT002– Perform venous blood collection

HLTPAT004 – Collect pathology specimens other than blood

COMPULSORY VOCATIONAL PLACEMENT

Students are required to undertake an unpaid work placement for 35 hours, completed over approximately  1-2 weeks.

Vocational Placement is organised by Riversource Training.
