The insertion of an intravenous cannula is an experience that almost everyone who goes to the hospital will have.

IV cannulas are vital in healthcare treatments since they have the potential to save lives and increase patient well-being. However, despite being one of the most widely used methods in healthcare, there is a high failure rate of 40% for first-time insertion and up to 69% of cannulas needing to be removed due to complications.

The goal of increasing the number of IV cannulas inserted correctly the first time is a challenge faced by many and can only be overcome with proper training and solid practice.
